Posted by ALM Date: Jun 23, 2021 612Views Good news for lovers of classical music. The Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra (OPM) is back. During two concerts initiated by the Tenor Foundation for Culture and scheduled for June 28, this group of musicians will finally find their audience, after a year without concerts due to the health crisis. “In the current context, which has hit artists, music lovers, concert venues and the public as a whole hard, the 2021 music festival begins a return to live music!”, Exalts the OPM about its next events in a row offered free of charge at the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat. And it is under the baton of Olivier Holt that the public will find Farid Bensaid on the violin and Dina Bensaïd on the piano, as well as the 80 musicians of the orchestra in essentials by Mozart, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff among others. “A rich program, built in particular around the classical and romantic repertoire”, details the same orchestra. Thus, this group of artists will perform the overture of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, the overture of Beethoven’s Fidélio whose Symphony No. 5 in C minor opus 67 – 1st movement will also be performed during the OPM concerts. In addition, this orchestra will play Thaïs Meditation by Massenet, Piano Concerto No. 2 – 1st movement by Rachmaninoff, as well as Hungarian Dances No. 1 and 5 by Brahms. And that’s not all. The music festival will not be organized under any conditions. Celebrated each year by the OPM since 2008, this event has, according to the same source, had to adapt to current health standards “to offer the best possible conditions to all, in order to experience moments of emotion again, in music! ”. Between concert times arranged to comply with curfew constraints, electronic ticket to download on smartphone, opening of doors 45 min in advance to facilitate flow management and avoid groupings, systematic temperature measurement at the entrance for each spectator, wearing the obligatory mask inside the theater, nothing is left to chance to spend pleasant moments with the orchestra. Practical information The two concerts will take place on Monday June 28 at 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. at the Mohammed V National Theater in Rabat.Free admission subject to availability.Electronic ticket to be collected on www.opm.ma
