Bourita meets with AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security

Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 3:52 pm Rabat – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, met on Tuesday in Rabat with the Commissioner of African Union (AU) for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Mr. Bankole Adeoye. This interview focused on peace and security in the African continent, the reforms and initiatives carried out by the AU, as well as the major role of Morocco within the Pan-African Organization and the sharing of its experience and expertise, in particular with regard to the elections. Particular emphasis was also placed, on this occasion, on the important role of Morocco in stability and security in Africa, as well as on the importance of the reform of the Peace and Security Council (PSC). In a press statement at the end of this interview, Mr. Bourita said he discussed with Mr. Adeoye the issue of the pillars adopted by the Commission to carry out its reform, namely governance, African diplomacy, peace and stability, considered necessary for stability in Africa, as well as Morocco’s support for these initiatives and its support in terms of electoral observations, preventive diplomacy and crisis management. For his part, the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security underlined the importance of Morocco’s major role in terms of good governance, stability and security in the Continent. During the last 6 months, the Commission has been involved in the execution of its new organization chart, with the active participation of Morocco after its return to the AU, added Mr. Adeoye.
