The ONMT meets Spanish operators

Posted by ALM Date: February 08, 2022 In order to activate the tourist recovery with this market At a time when Morocco is reopening its airspace, the ONMT is stopping over in Madrid where Adil El Fakir and his teams have reviewed the recovery with the main Spanish travel influencers. This stage thus concludes the first commercial, promotional and communication tour of the Moroccan National Tourist Office in order to accelerate the recovery dynamic accompanying the reopening of the Moroccan sky. “It is essential for us to be present in Spain with our partners to activate a much-awaited recovery on both sides of the Mediterranean”, indicates Adel El Fakir, director general of the ONMT. And to continue that “the air is today our battle horse. Our objective is to secure the air capacities of the main major companies to initiate a rapid recovery of tourist activity in Morocco”. The CEO of the ONMT thus held a meeting with the top management of the national airline Iberia. A strengthening of the strategic partnership between the ONMT and Iberia from the summer 2022 season is thus planned. This plans to promote Morocco throughout the Iberia network, which includes more than 100 European and South American destinations. This should lead to a sharp increase in connections to the cities of Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier. Referring to the ONMT, Iberia announced a recovery of 100% of its capacity for the Madrid-Tangier line (in reference to the Summer 2019 season) at the rate of 7 weekly frequencies, and a recovery of 76% for the line Madrid-Marrakech, i.e. 9 frequencies per week. This is a first step, given the very high potential of this line due to its role of interconnection with connections from the Americas and other European countries, whose nationals have already made up 35% of passengers to Marrakech during the summer of 2021. Adel El Fakir also met with the heads of the Europe department of the Expedia group, a global giant in online travel distribution and one of the most powerful players in the online sale of trips to Morocco .The aim is to quickly ensure a dynamic recovery in sales to the Kingdom and to deploy an offer that is both joint communication and a commercial offer of around 440,000 nights for the summer of 2022 to Morocco, i.e. a recovery of 80 % of objectives previously achieved (Summer 2019).
